Erfreulich intelligent kreierter und spannend facettenreich umgesetzter Alternative Hard Rock, wie er nur von einer absolut fähigen Idealistencombo wie Sevendust kommen kann. So melodisch und instrumental souverän, wie auf dem aktuellen Album „Truth Killer“ abgegroovt wird, so leidenschaftlich und wirkungsvoll sind auch wieder mal die nachhaltig berührenden, weil das Innerste so herrlich gefühlvoll nach außen stülpenden Vocals von Lajon Witherspoon – was für ein Talent, was für ein kilometerbreites Können! Deutlich erschließt sich in jedem neuen Song, warum diese auch lyrisch so sympathische Gruppe bis heute seit der Mitte der 1990er so lange überlebt hat. Gleich der allererste Hördurchgang holt für mich einen Hit nach dem anderen raus, geht alles sofort 1a rein. Die oberknackige Produktion genügt modernsten Standards, was auch die balladeskeren Momente auf der Scheibe alles andere als rührselig oder gefühlsduselig rüberkommen lässt – vielmehr werden mentale Intensitäten zeitgemäß adäquat reflektiert, könnte man dazu sagen. Besonderes Prädikat der zwar natürlich älter und reifer, aber beileibe nicht weniger druckvoll agierenden Ausnahmeformation aus Atlanta sind auch hierauf die impulsiven, oft komplett unvorhersehbaren Gitarrensprünge, die sinnbildlich teils himmelhoch gehen. Ganz besonders gut gefällt mir auch das gekonnt akzentuierte, selbst situativ stets felsig hämmernde Drumming – man höre und genieße „No Revolution“, sowas kann man einfach nicht besser machen. Bravo, Sevendust, einmal mehr alles richtiggemacht!

Pleasantly intelligently created and excitingly multi-faceted Alternative Hard Rock, as it can only come from an absolutely capable idealist combo like Sevendust. As melodically and instrumentally sovereign as the groove on the current album „Truth Killer“ is, as passionate and effective are once again the lastingly touching vocals by Lajon Witherspoon, because the innermost thing is so wonderfully emotionally turned outwards – what a talent, what for a kilometer-wide skill! In every new song, it becomes clear why this group, which is also lyrically so likeable, has survived for so long since the mid-1990s. The very first listen brings out one hit after the other for me, everything goes in 1a straight away. The cracking production meets the most modern standards, which means that even the more ballad-like moments on the disc come across as anything but sentimental or touchy-feely – rather, one could say that mental intensities are adequately reflected in a contemporary way. The impulsive, often completely unpredictable guitar jumps, which symbolically sometimes go sky high, are a special attribute of the exceptional formation from Atlanta, who are of course older and more mature, but by no means less powerful. I particularly like the skilfully accentuated drumming, which is always rocky and pounding, even depending on the situation – listen and enjoy “No Revolution”, you just can’t do something better than that. Well done Sevendust, done right again!
