Wenn jemand bislang nicht allzu viel mit dem Ausdruck passiv-aggressiv anfangen konnte, kommt hier die musikalische Umsetzung. Beim dritten Album von Not My God brodelt es von Beginn so böse unter der Oberfläche, dass man jeden Moment mit einem industriellen Vulkanausbruch rechnet. Dass dieser nicht stattfindet, liegt im Kalkül der beiden Düsterbuddys Tim Skold (u. a. Marilyn Manson) und Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine): Über sämtliche zwölf Tracks lassen die beiden infernalischen Burschen ihre Bösartigkeit schwelen, ohne je richtig laut oder rasend zu werden. Im Gegenteil, Songs wie „Dead“ oder „Enter The Way“ geben ihren zehn Nachfolgern direkt zum Einstieg das Midtempo und die Depression vor, die gefälligst bis zum Endakkord einzuhalten sind. Dass Not My God es dabei dennoch halbwegs schaffen, ein erkleckliches Maß an Abwechslung unterzumischen, kann man ihnen bis zur Mitte des Albums attestieren, danach wird die gesamte Veranstaltung allerdings redundant und dadurch auch recht zäh. So dass in der Endabrechnung vielleicht der ein oder andere zu dem Schluss kommen wird: Not My Band.

If the term passive-aggressive hasn’t hit you all that well before, here’s the musical implementation. With the third album by Not My God, things are bubbling under the surface so badly from the start that you expect an industrial volcanic eruption at any moment. The fact that this doesn’t happen is due to the calculations of the two dark buddies Tim Skold (including Marilyn Manson) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine): the two infernal fellows let their evil smolder over all twelve tracks without ever getting really loud or raging. On the contrary, songs like „Dead“ or „Enter The Way“ give their ten successors the mid-tempo and depression right at the start, which should be kept up to the end chord. That Not My God still manages to mix in a decent amount of variety is something that can be attested up to the middle of the album, but after that the entire event becomes redundant and therefore also quite sluggish. So that in the final accounts one or the other might come to the conclusion: Not My Band.
